The North Grenville Men’s Shed was recently invited by Ashley Cuthbert of the North Grenville in Bloom (NGiB) committee to help with a unique project: constructing bat houses. Using proven designs—multi-chambered, rough-surfaced interiors with ventilation for airflow—these houses provide safe and appealing roosts for local bat populations.
Our project team reviewed the plans and was eager to contribute. Four members—Doug Kerwin, Roger Stark, Mark Murphy, and Chris Rowland—took on the challenge and successfully completed the bat houses in record time.

On August 11, the finished houses were delivered to NGiB. They will be raffled off during a community workshop on September 28 2025.
At the workshop, the Men’s Shed will provide build-your-own kits and hands-on assembly guidance to participants.
The North Grenville Men’s Shed extends its thanks to Ashley Cuthbert and the NGiB committee for the opportunity to take part in such a worthwhile and environmentally friendly project.
