About Us

The North Grenville Men’s Shed was established in February of 2024 and is made up of men from all walks of life. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive, friendly environment where all men can feel welcome. We strive to work on meaningful projects offering our members the opportunity to learn new skills and share their interests while meeting new people. Whether you are interested in woodworking, gardening, or just socializing, NG Men’s Shed has something for you.

Our Genesis

NG Men’s Shed held its inaugural open house in February of 2024. Immediately it was apparent that the NG community had plenty of interest in forming a Shed. Beginning in March, we started having weekly meetings at Maplewood Hall, in Oxford Mills and we started planning the direction this shed would take.

By April we started our formal registration process and 25 men registered. Fees are collected quarterly and are set at $60 for every three months.

During the month of May a few men took on our first project, building two Adirondack chairs for Camp Iawah. In June a Counter was built and installed for Camp Iawah’s Tuck Shop.

By the end of June, we held our 20th meeting and it was time to get more projects on the go. Five Workshop Satellite Sheds were set up and beginning in July members started meeting at different locations. Men are meeting at different “Sheds” to work on a variety of tasks including lathe training sessions and building bird houses, Christmas decorations and lawn ornaments, as examples. In addition, a sixth shed was set up as a Social Shed, where members gather at local coffee shops or restaurants for coffee and/or breakfast. Formal business meetings are held monthly at this point.

Activities Update

As the North Grenville Men's Shed celebrates its first anniversary, excitement is in the air. This milestone not only marks a year of hard work, community engagement, and camaraderie but also brings forth some fantastic news we want to share!
We are thrilled to announce our agreement with the Kemptville Salvation Army to use their former church building at 2 Oxford Street W, Kemptville, as our official workshop and meeting space. This spacious building, will serve as the perfect backdrop for the activities and projects we have planned for the coming year.
This transition is more than just a change of venue; it symbolizes our growth and commitment to fostering community spirit. The North Grenville Men's Shed focuses on bringing people together, sharing skills, and enriching lives. This new home is a significant step forward in supporting those goals.
Adding to our excitement, we are pleased to announce that we have received a grant from the North Grenville Community Grants Program! This generous funding from the Municipality will help cover costs related to our new workshop, ensuring we can make it the best space possible.
Being awarded this grant recognizes our hard work over the past year and our potential for making even greater contributions to the community. We are committed to using these funds wisely.
Looking into the future, the prospects for the North Grenville Men's Shed are bright. With our new space, community support, and enthusiastic members, we are set to take our projects to new heights.
The connections forged here go beyond our workshop. Being involved in the Men's Shed means being part of something bigger—a movement that enhances mental well-being, fosters social interaction, and encourages lifelong learning. We’re excited to carry this spirit into our new location.
If you're interested in becoming part of the North Grenville Men's Shed, there are many ways to get involved. Whether you want to join as a member or volunteer for specific projects, your support is invaluable. With our new home and the backing of the Municipality, now is the perfect time to step up.
