NGMS Second Anniversary Celebration

In the beginning a meeting was held in the auditorium at the college in Kemptville. At that time we were introduced to the Men’s Shed system and asked to join. Many did to form a base for the now forty member organization we have today.
From this we met at the Kemptville Retirement Living for a social session on several occasions. We then were offered Maplewood Hall in Oxford Mills to gather socially by Mayor Nancy Peckford. We could not do crafts only socialize. This was a rent free arrangement.
As time went on the old Salvation Army Church became available in the basement which is located in Kemptville. We could only do light work projects as no heavy equipment was allowed. We did however organize satellite Sheds in member’s private home workshops for our larger projects.
We are now searching for a permanent workshop site where all can participate and meet socially as well as do a variety of projects.
To date we have participated in the Triathlon Race, restored a 1910 sleigh for Kemptville’s Christmas Town display,

assisted with Shalom Small Homes, made a counter for a camp, a special bed for a disabled child plus many smaller projects to help in the community.
Our Shed is now incorporated and we received funding from the township, various other sources along with member’s monthly dues.
We all enjoy our time at the Shed and look forward to the meetings as a group of retired men with many different talents.
